Our Story: The Visionary Behind the Yantra
It began in 2016 against the backdrop of severe droughts in Maharashtra. Dr. Sachin Pawade, a renowned pediatrician and gold medalist from Government Medical College, Nagpur, observed a critical disconnect: while the region received concentrated rainfall, rapid runoff left the ground parched and borewells completely dry. Driven by a deep-rooted commitment to community welfare, he stepped beyond his medical practice to engineer a solution. After extensively studying the science of groundwater recharge and the mechanics of existing commercial filters, he invented the Bhujal Moist Soil (Bhujal Yantra).
The Technology and Impact
Bhujal Yantra was specifically designed to be accessible, highly affordable, and exceptionally efficient. Utilizing a unique double-gravity mechanism and a triple-filtration system, the device captures roof rainwater, purifies it, makes it potable, and directs it straight into the ground.
What started as a grassroots initiative in Wardha has scaled into a nationwide movement. Today, Bhujal Yantra has transformed over 2,500 homes. Because a single unit is capable of directly recharging a 350-foot deep borewell with approximately 200,000 liters of water annually, successfully saving and purifying 599 million or 59.9 crore liters of rainwater across India. This massive conservation effort has revived depleted water tables and secured water independence for thousands of families.

As the success of the original Bhujal Moist Soil Filtration Technology spread and demand grew, it became clear that this localized invention needed to be accessible to every home, school, and industry in India. To achieve this nationwide vision, a dedicated partnership was formed, giving birth to Urban Paani Solutions.
Re-Engineering for the Modern Home
Taking a brilliant concept to the masses required a commercial evolution. The newly formed team set out to completely re-engineer and restructure the original Bhujal Yantra framework. By optimizing the internal mechanics and upgrading the external housing, the system was transformed into a highly compact, incredibly durable, and mass-manufacturable unit. This modern restructuring ensured that the filter could withstand extreme monsoon pressures while fitting seamlessly into any standard urban plumbing system.
